Let's Talk Hair

While going into teaching and just feeling like I'm always on the run, I don't want to deal with my hair a lot of the times.  Am I right or am I right dad and Boyfriend B?  Do you hate dealing with your hair too?  I'm sure.

Moving on, I either wear my hair down (it's stick straight and nothing special) or pulled back with my bangs pulled back as well.  I occasionally throw it up in a messy bun, but that's just not professional nor appropriate for my first grade practicum placement.  I also use headbands from Target, but they always seem to give me headaches and don't sit perfectly on my head.  There are weird gaps that I hate.  But then, my lovely twin sister A introduced me to these gems:

They look like normal headbands on, but they're not-they're better!  You can bend them more like a workout headband, they stay on just as well, if not better,  they don't give you headaches, and there are no weird gaps between my head and the headband!  Trust me, I was skeptical, and whom better to review them than a skeptic, but I tested them throughout last week much to my liking.  In fact, I wore them to the gym, to my classes, and to teach the first grade nuggets:

I also now have a new favorite up-do that could be just perfect for your holiday parties this December.  Have you seen the sock bun tutorials roaming around cyber space lately? Well I had and wanted to give it a try.  Again, I was skeptical because my hair is very layered, and I didn't know how it would stay.  I used this tutorial:

First time through, it didn't go so hot.  Second time through I got this result:

Day One: I was extremely relaxed with how I put my bangs back and didn't mind all the fly-aways sticking out of the bun since I was just doing homework around my apartment the rest of the night.  I personally love the relaxed look, but if I use it for teaching or a more formal function, I would spruce it up a bit and possibly add one of my new favorite headbands.  No bobby pins needed at all to hold in the bun, which is an added bonus!

Day Two: I'm sad to report that due to my layered hair, the bun did not stay in as long as expected, so I tried it again the following day and put some bobby pins in.  It has lasted all day (fist pump)! I also put my ponytail up higher so you could see the bun when looking straight on.  I like this placement more.

By the way, the sweater I'm wearing in the first sock bun pictures is the one I talked about here.  I've worn it over a plain white tee, a 3/4 black shirt, and even a casual tank top.  It looks great with leggings/skinny jeans and boots.  But don't forget the power of a belt! I layered it over a dress and belted it as well one day and love the look.

There are just so many possibilities!  But I think I like it belted the most for now.  It was a great sweater to invest in because I can wear it so many different ways.  I may have to just add some tights and wear it as either my Christmas Eve or Christmas outfit.

Do you have a hairstyle or outfit you're loving right now?

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for showing me this sock bun tutorial! I just whipped out one of my partners socks to try it for myself (he gave me the strangest look) and it turned out just perfect. :D It actually made it look like my hair had volume! x

I LOVE the sock bun! It's the perfect combination of a 'done' and 'un-done' look.
